- : >Hi there,
- : LNX files should be dissolved with LYNX, this is a kind of zip program for
- : the cbm 64. I really wonder why they bothered to lnx this file because the
- : lnx file itself is bigger than the original doomprv file inside it.

- And now I stick my oar in (as usual!) and say:
-
- Disolve?! Zip?!?! Er, did I miss something? I downloaded a .LNX file from
- somewhere (memory like a sieve!) and moved it over to my (t)rusty 128D. When
- I tried to run it a message said to use Lynx on it. But on further
- examination I found that the file wasn't actually compressed, it just had a
- 254 byte header containing the message (in BASIC) and the original filename
- of the prog. So I used my Action Replay to force-load the file to $0703 and
- then saved from $0801 to the end, using the filename provided, reloaded it
- and it ran! The only compression was what was on the program in the first
- place! Oh, yes the file was totally intact because it was something I had
- done and one of the few things I DO remember is my old code!! (-=
-
- Now, if there is another Lynx that actually packs the file I'll say sorry
- in advance, but as far as I see you only really need a monitor and some
- knowledge to restore these files...
-
- Jason (TMR) whos still waiting for Sean (Odie) to actually get around to
- writing a PKZip style tool on the C64... When he finishes the Amiga packer
- and the new version of the C0SiNE music player...! (-=
